Development of democratic debate in Europe provides ample reasons to doubt beneficial effects of social media - new FEBlog by Dr Robbert Maseland
In recent years we have seen a sharp increase in participation in the public debate, coupled with a dramatic decline of its quality. Where debate used to revolve around differences in values, nowadays we seem to be disagreeing about facts. Are social media partly responsible for this? Simple economics suggests they are.
