Unique: municipal taxes increase less than inflation; water taxes do rise

In 2011 households pay more for dry feet and the treatment of wastewater. The water boards' (waterschappen) residents levy and water treatment taxes, as wel as the sewerage charges of the municipalities, rise more than inflation. However, the increase in total municipal taxes is - for the first time - less than inflation.


These are the conclusions of the Atlas of the Local Taxes, presented by COELO today. COELO is a Centre for Research on Local Government Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen.
