What is International Business?

Update January 2012: the information about our selection procedures has been updated.

Why does a firm want to set up a factory abroad? Why does Nike require different marketing campaigns in the countries in which it is active? And why does a multicultural management team operate differently from a single-country management team?

General information

The IB programme* focuses on dealing with economic, cultural, legal and political issues in an international business context. You will study business processes, human behaviour in relation to work, marketing, information systems management, law and economic aspects of the business world. You will learn to understand local, regional, national and international issues. In addition you will learn to adapt your management style and techniques, and change the way you deal with your employees, investors, suppliers and distributors.

You will spend a semester abroad at one of our many partner universities in Europe, Latin America, Australia, North America, or Asia. This is an invaluable step in developing a deeper understanding of the subjects you study and a major opportunity to further develop your cross-cultural and language skills.

► Study in the web class of International Business.

After your bachelor !

IB gives you access to a number of Master’s degree programmes, which increase your career options. You can work for a multinational firm, and any number of governmental institutions and international organizations. Positions at companies can vary from export manager or international marketer, to international sales manager, product manager or human resource manager. With a Research Master’s degree you could move into academia.

* [December 2011: as of now International Business is a BSc programme of it's own. It changed from being the track 'International Business & Management' within the BSc Business Administration programme. The content of the programme remains unchanged, but your diploma will mention the new programme name!]
