GMAT/GRE requirement


 

GMAT requirement for applicants with a non-Dutch Bachelor's degree

In order to apply for a Business related Master programme of the Faculty of Economics and Business, as proof of analytical writing and quantitative reasoning abilities, you must submit a satisfactory Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score. A satisfactory GMAT score implies a score of at least 500. Applications will be evaluated in combination with the other required information that needs to be provided when submitting an application. 

You are required to indicate the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen and the programme you are applying for on the test form while taking the GMAT.  Please be aware that GMAT scores are only valid for five years. Please find more information on the GMAT website. 

You may qualify for exemption from the GMAT entry requirement if you have successfully completed (i.e. passed) at least 25 ECTS of third year Bachelor courses in one of the BSc programmes of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen (e.g. as an exchange student). 

Please keep in mind that the Faculty of Economics and Business Admissions Office will only evaluate applications for these programmes after receipt of the GMAT test results.

The GMAT is required for the following programmes:

  • MSc Business Administration (all specializations)
  • MSc Finance
  • MSc Human Resource Management
  • MSc International Business and Management, including specialization Advanced International Business Management & Marketing (dual award)
  • MSc International Financial Management, including specialization MSc International Financial Management (Double Degree)
  • MSc Marketing
  • MSc Supply Chain Management
  • MSc MSc Technology & Operations Management

In order to apply for the:

  • MSc Economics
  • MSc Econometrics, Operations Research and Actuarial Studies (EORAS)
  • MSc International Economics and Business (IE&B)

as proof of verbal and quantitative reasoning and analytical writing, you must submit a satisfactory Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) General Test result. Applications will be evaluated in combination with the other required information (such as course descriptions and literature lists) that needs to be provided when submitting an application.

The designated institution code for GRE is 8494, University of Groningen Faculty of Economics and Business. Please be aware that GRE scores are only valid for five years. Please find more information on the GRE website ( http://www.ets.org/gre )

You may qualify for exemption of the GRE entry requirement if you have successfully completed (i.e. passed) at least 25 ECTS of third year Bachelor courses in one of the BSc programmes of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Groningen (e.g. as an exchange student).

In the following cases we also accept a GMAT test:

- If you have already obtained a GMAT score (not older than two years)

- If it is not possible to take a GRE General Test in your country

Please keep in mind that the Faculty of Economics and Business Admissions Office will only evaluate applications for these programmes after receipt of the GRE General Test.
