Why does a company open a factory abroad rather than rely on exports and imports? Why does most electronic equipment come from Japan, but nowadays increasingly also from China? What role do strategic alliances play in the international business world? The answer to these and many other questions about the world of international economics and business will be revealed during the International Economics & Business Master’s degree programme (IE&B).
The Master of Science in IE&B is a high-quality programme that prepares students for an international career in the private or public sectors. What makes this programme so unique is the combination of topics in the field of international business and international economics, as well as the attention paid to the links between both fields. You will study a wide range of interesting topics at an advanced level, ranging from international trade and investment to the consequences of globalization for strategic decision-making in multinational enterprises, and the socio-economic and institutional differences between countries.
MSc students in IE&B are trained to become broadly oriented economists with a strong international profile and a deep analytical understanding of the main current trends in the global world of international (economic) policy and business organizations.
Students of IE&B combine the study of business related topics, concentrating on strategic management and organization, with economic issues, in particular trade and capital flows in relation to multinational enterprises. Moreover, substantive attention is given to the differences between institutions and the way in which companies are organized in different countries. The Master’s degree programme is entirely in English and there is a strong emphasis on small group teaching.
