Video: Maddison Lecture by Daron Acemoglu on ‘The Race of Man Against Machine’
Leading economist Daron Acemoglu visited the Faculty of Economics and Business to give the Maddison Lecture this month. The title was ‘The Race of Man Against Machine’, a topic of vital current importance. As ever more jobs previously done by humans are performed by robotics and artificial intelligence, what will the effect be on the labour market? Acemoglu, a professor economics at MIT and author of Why Nations Fail, addressed the issue in the light of his research into the effect of automation. The lecture was organised by FEB Centres of Expertise ‘In the LEAD’ and the Groningen Growth and Development Centre. You can watch a video of the lecture below.
