Department of Pharmacy

The Department of Pharmacy belongs to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMNS) of the University of Groningen. At the department, fundamental and applied drug research is carried out and education is given in pharmacy and in pharmaceutical sciences. Pharmacy occupies a central position in life sciences.

 

Graduates in pharmacy or in pharmaceutical sciences find jobs in various sectors: as a pharmacist (community, hospital, industry) or as a researcher in drug development. Pharmaceutical research is multidisciplinary and has many interfaces with medicine, chemistry and biology. Numerous collaborations exist, both on a national and international level, with academia, industrial partners and governmental bodies.

 

The Department of Pharmacy currently counts 11 research groups, about 150 staff members (scientific and supporting) and 750 students.
