Victor M. Sergeev graduated from Moscow Power Engeneering Institute (1967) in Physics and Moscow State University (1970) in Mathematics. Ph.D- 1974. Doctor of History- 1994. Worked at the Academy of Science of Russia (Institute for High Temperature Physics, Institute for U.S. and Canada Studies). Currently Sergeev is the Director of the Centre for the Studies of Global Problems, professor of Comparative Politics at the MGIMO- University of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (Moscow).
Victor Sergeev has been a visiting professor and fellow at the Leiden University, Santa Fe Institute, Netherlands Institute for Advanced Studies, Svedish Collegium for Advanced Studies in Social Science, Uppsala University, Leeds University. Main spheres of interest- energy politics,comparative politics, modeling of decision making processes,theoretical economics.
