Research driven education

At the University of Groningen, all teaching programmes including our summer schools are based on research. Our students are trained to develop their research skills from year one, and they are often involved in current research projects. As a rule, our best researchers also participate in our teaching programmes, be these at undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate level.

Summer Schools

Summer schools are an excellent formula for leading researchers to share their research findings and questions with talented and motivated students from all over the world. For one or two weeks, our researchers, their international counterparts and external stakeholders will all be immersed in a problem that they feel is essential to them and to society. To intensively work together for a short period of time inspires and energizes all those involved, and it often tastes like more. There are many examples of summer school students, who, afterwards, returned for a full programme at the University of Groningen. Some of those students were even invited by the academic coordinator of the summer school to come back and join us!
