Representatiefonds

Objectives

The main aim of the ‘Representatiefonds’, founded in 1896, as set out in the original regulations, is as follows: ‘investing in projects that may lead to enduring augmentation of the honour and reputation of the University’.

The board of the Fund therefore supports and develops initiatives that will enhance the University’s national and international honour and reputation.

Projects

Here are some examples:

• the mural in the Aula of the Academy Building , 1987
• the carillon in the Academy Building tower , in honour of the hundredth anniversary of the Fund, 1996
• the artwork ‘Icarus’ in the Spiegelzaal of the Academy Building, 1999

Support the Fund

The Fund is supported by regular donations from professors and professors emeritus of the University of Groningen. Donations, annual or incidental, by other persons are also warmly welcomed. Please contact the treasurer or transfer the amount to the bank account of the Fund (see above for details).

N.B. Conferences, symposia, excursions, study trips and guest professorships are not in general considered for support.
