HAPS

Healthy Ageing: Population and Society (HAPS) is a multidisciplinary research programme on Healthy Ageing. HAPS is a cooperation between demography and sociology (RUG) and epidemiology (UMCG).

Population ageing and decline

This research line concentrates on studying the effects of an ageing population, the related decrease in the working population, and the shrinkage in certain regions.

Life course ageing in context

The life course of an individual is the result of a complicated interplay of factors. That complex interplay is the subject of this line of research.

Participation in healthy ageing

This line of research concentrates on studying the perspectives of people regarding their health and wellbeing in an economic and cultural context. Self-regulation, empowerment and independence are important aspects of this. This research is often conducted with the relevant parties to ensure that practical solutions are devised.
