Ageing Brain

Research on the ageing brain is important to understand what happens to our brain as we get older. What is the molecular basis for memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease and the emergence of a depression?

Technology for ageing people

Improving drug use can make healthcare much more efficient. Researchers are working on computer programs that are able to completely tailor dosage to the individual. The way that drugs are administered can also make a huge difference. This is why work is also being performed on new forms of COPD medication that will lead to an improved absorption of the medication in the body.

ERIBA

The UMCG and the University of Groningen are housing ten research groups headed by international top researchers in the European Research Institute on the Biology of Ageing (ERIBA). These groups are researching the fundamental mechanisms of ageing and the disorders associated with getting older.
You can find more information about ERIBA on the UMCG website.
