Home use

Home use means that University staff and students are allowed to install and use software on private equipment if the relevant supplier’s licensing conditions permit this. The University of Groningen has acquired licensing contracts for some applications that permit home use under certain conditions.

Where can I get software for home use?

Such licensing contracts are usually purchased via SURFspot, with the University of Groningen effectively buying the right to use the software. Staff and students can log in to www.surfspot.nl with their P or S number and password to order the software. They will then not have to pay for the use of the software but only for the media and shipping costs. In addition, software for which the University of Groningen does not have licensing contracts can also be ordered at attractive discount prices via www.surfspot.nl. Some software is also available via the CIT download portal.
