Strategic Communication

Prominent position for the University of Groningen

The strategic communication policy of the University of Groningen has been set out in the paper ‘Bringing the University of Groningen into focus’. A prominent position is the aim, the mission the means. Every type of communication with the outside world, for whatever reason, must be clearly labelled University of Groningen. This condition, a very necessary but certainly not sufficient one, must be complied with regardless of whether the message is an oral, written or electronic one. Nor should it matter which faculty, research school or teaching institute is the sender, or which recipient (target group) the message is intended for. This applies to all messages, whether they are regional, national or international.

Integrated approach

The communication policy is founded on the involvement and commitment of the entire University of Groningen community. This is why internal communication is so important. Communication staff, as well as students, academic personnel and university administrators, of course, must where possible and desirable seek out, create and use publicity. That requires an anticipatory and proactive attitude. Coordination of all communication efforts will be achieved by an integrated approach.
