Radiation

Introduction

Working with radioactive substances and equipment that emits radiation involves specific risks. The Radiation Protection Unit (SBE) has been set up in order to ensure that these radiological activities are carried out safely. The government has limited the use of radiation so since 1998 the University has had a so-called ‘complex permit’ under the Nuclear Energy Act. This permit gives the University permission to organize its own affairs concerning radiation safety, within generous limits. An internal system is used concerning permission to use radiation. The most recent update of the complex permit was performed in 2005.
