Open consultation hour

Health and wellbeing at the University of Groningen

University of Groningen staff members who are experiencing work-related health problems can report to the Health, Safety and Environment Service and request a meeting with an expert. We regard work-related health problems in a very broad sense here; we would like to help you improve your situation not only if your health problem is caused by your job but also if your health prevents proper functioning.

You will usually be scheduled for the occupational health physician's consultation hour, but for specific problems and in consultation with the AMD you can also make a direct appointment with another expert within the AMD, for example the occupational health nurse (for workplace-related problems and adaptations to the workplace) or the occupational social worker(for psychological and psychosocial issues, disturbed working relationships, etc.).

The balance consultation hour is a special type of open consultation hour. If you feel that your general health could do with some improvement, and that this would also reflect positively on your work performance, please don’t hesitate to consult us. Examples include advice in the field of weight issues, exercise or learning to cope with stress. In addition, the balance consultation hour may also be useful for you if you want to quit smoking or cut down on your alcohol intake but you are not sure how to go about this.

If the form of assistance that would suit you best is not available within the AMD, we will of course try to refer you on to a suitable expert outside the AMD. We have an extensive network of professional experts.
