Monitors and computers have become indispensable at our workstations and we are using them more and more intensively,
usually without any problems.
However, we hardly realise how easy it is to spend too much time working in the same position on the same type of activity.
We do vary between
reading, writing documents, writing e-mails, checking the RUG Agenda, etcetera, but all this is usually done with the same equipment:
keyboard, mouse and monitor.
As a result, we get hardly any physical exercise at work,
which may, especially combined with stress, lead to certain symptoms connected to computer work.
We think this is due to a combination of factors.
The workstation, the tasks and variation or lack of variation in these tasks, work pressure and personal factors may together lead to complaints.
The menu on the left lists a number of aspects.
You can test your workstation

In addition, the AMD has published a brochure entitled To Sit or Not to Sit [PDF] with a brief overview of how you can set up your workstation optimally.
