Health and wellbeing at the University of groningen
Medical screenings are nowadays only permitted for a very limited number of professions.
This is due to the Medical Examinations Act.
As a result of this act, medical screenings may only be performed for positions in which special requirements apply to staff health or in which a staff member’s health may have consequences for the safety of those with whom and for whom he or she is working.
Whether or not such special requirements apply in specific cases must be determined in consultation between the employer and the health and safety service.
The employer first defines the job requirements, upon which the company doctor decides which health requirements should apply to prospective employees and draws up a screening protocol to determine whether the employee can meet these requirements.
