RefWorks
is a web-based application for managing references. RefWorks allows you to:
- Import literature references from databases (e. g. the Catalogue of the University of Groningen, PiCarta, WorldCat, Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science) or from publishers’ websites (e.g. Elsevier ScienceDirect or SpringerLink). It is also possible to use RSS feeds to import references automatically.
- Organize your references: add keywords, create folders, remove duplicate records and search.
- Share your references with others: lecturers can share a folder containing a reading list with their students, and groups of researchers or students can collaborate using shared folders or shared accounts.
-
Cite
your literature in a Word document and generate bibliographies automatically in the publishing style of your choice (e.g. APA, Chicago, MLA or the format of a specific journal). For this function you have to install
Write-N-Cite
(a module of RefWorks) on your computer.
The main advantage of RefWorks vis-à-vis EndNote and Reference Manager is its greater user-friendliness. This makes RefWorks a useful tool for researchers, lecturers and students, and a good alternative for EndNote and Reference Manager. For that reason, the University of Groningen will end the latter two licenses on June 30, 2011.
