Study places and computer-facilities


Study places

The library has around 250 study places, most with network facilities, which allow you to access the university network with your own laptop.  

 

Examination periods 

In examination periods, nearly all of the places are reserved for staff members and student of the Faculty of Arts. Library staff will check on the use of the study places by asking students for their student cards. Several study places have

Catalogue room

Information on the various catalogues can be found on our page on Catalogues and National Library files .

On the pc's in the catalogue room you may use the following catalogues and databases:

Catalogue University of Groningen

- Picarta

- Other catalogues (national and international)

- Electronic journals (subscriptions RUG)

- Electronic databases (subscriptions RUG)

- Electronic publications RUG

 

MS Office (Word, Access, Excel etc.) has not been installed on these pc's. For this, you will have to go to one of the two computerrooms within the library  (please mind the  rules in the mulimediaroom), or any other computerroom in the faculty. 

 

Multimediaroom and pc-room

If you need to use a PC's for consulting electronic databases on the faculty network or on the web, our multimediaroom and pc-room is available (unless there are instructions) In the catalogue room you will find access points for your laptop (access to the University network is possible).

Film Room

In the library you may alsodvd's in the Film room. The Library of Arts owns a large collection of films on dvd. These can be borrowed by students and staff from the Faculty of Arts only.
