Library Regulations

Library Rules

1. Access to the library is free. Study places may be reserved for staff and students of the Faculty of Arts.
2. Borrowing is possible with a valid library card of student card.
3. The loan period is 4 weeks, unless stated otherwise. It may be renewed on request, unless the publications concerned have been reserved.
4. Borrowing is free. Borrowed publications must be returned no later than the last day of the loan period. If this period has expired, the library will send the borrower an overdue notice. The fees for the first overdue are € 0.50, for the second € 1.50, and for the third € 2.50. The fee for overdue DVD's is € 0,50 a day. Once the second notice has been sent, the borrower's library privileges are suspended. Only when books involved have been returned and the overdue fees have been paid will this suspension be lifted. In case of DVDs the borrower will be suspended from borrowing films during the current collegeyear, when borrower has returned dvd's late for the 3rd time.
5. The borrower is to return any borrowed works in good condition.
6. The following may not be borrowed: reference works, loose-leaf publications, rare books, large-size books, periodicals, materials reserved for seminars (temporary), and additional copies of publications with red band on the spine.
7. You are not allowed to use your mobile phone, or take food/drinks into the library, : only water bottles are allowed.
8. Silence should be maintained in the study rooms.
9. Visitors are not permitted to take coats and bags into the library. You can leave these items in the lockers provided, at the entrance of the library. You will need a two-euro coin for the locker, which you recover when you open it again. Student working on their thesis may rent a 'permanent' locker (€ 10,- per month).  
10. Visitors are to obey any directions given by library staff.

Houserules Multimedia area Library

The multimedia PCs are meant for consulting the electronic databases of the library. If necessary, staff members will ask you to leave a place.

Rules of priority multimediaroom

• Instruction for Arts Library and classes by appointment
• Use of network cd-roms and for the research of literature (online catalogues, bibliographic databases
• General use for study

In case all computers are in use, the rules above will be applied by the Art Library personnel. In all cases, the following is prohibited: funsurfing, fun-email, games, chatting, the exploitation of an (online) company, the installing of private software and other affairs that are not primarily for the purpose of study.

N.B.: Pc's that are idle for 30 minutes, will automatically be logged off. Other users may login after this.
