RUG Combine


Introduction

RUG Combine is a service of the joint libraries of the University of Groningen (RUG). RUG Combine offers access to scientific, scholarly and subject-specific literature in the form of a wide spectrum of electronic bibliographical databases, catalogues, reference works, source and text material and electronic journals. Anyone with a central login account (RUG number) or S number (students) can log in to RUG Combine.

RUG Combine offers:

  • Portals with all relevant electronic resources for the various subject fields, the so-called ‘categories’. Within these categories, several subfields or ‘subject areas’ have been created. The following categories are currently available:
    Art and Culture
    Behavioural and Social Sciences

    Communication and Media
    Economics and Management
    Exact Sciences
    Historical Studies
    International Studies
    Language and Literature
    Law, Public Administration and Criminology

    Medicine
    Philosophy
    Spatial Sciences
    Theology
  • Simultaneously searching multiple resources, arranged by subject field or selected by you (MetaSearch)
  • Simultaneously searching predefined sets of important resources (QuickSearch)
  • An overview of all search results in one screen (Search Hits)
  • Saving selected search results in a central location (My Space: eShelf)
  • Collecting and arranging your favourite resources, including electronic journals, in your own personalized location (My Space: My Databases/My E-journals). You can then also search your own sets of resources.
  • Saving your queries for convenient reuse and e-mail notification of new publications about your specific topics (My Space: History)
  • Integration of RUGLinks (SFX) functionality.

Please consult the RUG libraries’ Guide to the Literature for a literature search advice per subject field (what are the major resources, which alternatives are there, who is the information specialist, etc.).
