Publishing in Open Access


In the Netherlands, universities and SURF have developed and implemented many concrete activities to improve academic communication by stimulating Open Access.

    October 2008:
    In the Netherlands, universities and SURF have developed and implemented a lot of concrete activities to improve academic communication by stimulating Open Access. This has made the Netherlands the world’s frontrunner and leader in this field.
    The UKB has now commissioned the UKB Open Access workgroup to write a memorandum: Open Access in Nederland: de volgende stap [Open Access in the Netherlands: the next step]
  • Springer and UKB Netherlands: working together on Open Access
    October 2008:
    In June 2007, the UKB (a partnership between the University Libraries and the Netherlands Royal Library) and the publisher Springer signed a statement of intent to jointly investigate and stimulate publishing via Open Access.
     
  • Repositories
    The digitization of academic information is becoming ever more important. The expansion of the internet has created new possibilities for sharing academic information. Publications can be made easily accessible in repositories (digital archives) via ‘Open Access’.
