Worldwide, the past two decades have witnessed a growing separation between functional and causal approaches in the study of behavior and cognition. In our view, there is a strong need for integration.
Progress in neuroscience is crucially dependent on insight in the underlying physiological mechanisms coupled with adequate knowledge of the functional context. For this reason, we have set up the following collaborative programs:
- Neurocognition of visual perception and auditory processing
- Neurocognition of language
- Affective and cognitive disorders
- Mechanism of neurodegeneration and neuroprotection
- Motor behaviour
- Computational and theoretical modelling
- Behavioral performance
- Neuro-imaging methods
Projects within these topics are adressed in our annual report.
