U4 strategic partnership

In 2008 the Ghent University, the University of Göttingen, the University of Groningen, and Uppsala University formed a strategic partnership. The partnership stands for a preferential, but not exclusive cooperation in European and International projects, for the development of joint initiatives in research and education and for the organisation and promotion of staff and student exchange. On Thursday 31st of March and Friday 1st of April 2011 the University of Groningen and UMCG organize the U4 symposium ‘The Ageing Brain’. The aim was/is to define a research focus and to develop a joint research program (8 joint research projects).

From the Education Committee...

PhD council

Prof. Lou de Leij would like to create a PhD council with members from all faculties (2 PhD member per faculty). The BCN PhD council has made its own plan and sent this to Prof. Lou de Leij. They will discuss this with him in person.

Evaluation BCN Retreat

Most people were positive about the retreat. There are, however, some points which can and will be improved.

Training programme

As the financial situation with respect to the contribution of the faculties to the BCN budget is not clear yet, a disclaimer will be added to the training programme which mentions that a student first has to ask his/her own faculty for reimbursement.

BCN website

The BCN website is currently being updated. A large number of pages will be updated, deleted and new information will be added. If you have comments, please let us know (m.h.w.hooiveld@umcg.nl).
