The Eric Bleumink Fund awards scholarships to talented students and young researchers from developing countries. Such scholarships enable them to further develop as individuals and to make important contributions to the development of their own countries. In the eleven years that the EBF exists over forty scholarships have been handed out . More than forty young , ambitious and very talented people were able to follow an additional study at the University of Groningen . Here they were introduced to an academic culture , libraries and international contacts they are often lacking in their homeland .
Giving to the Eric Fund BleuminkThese scholarships are funded by donations. More and more students, staff, alumni and contacts of the University of Groningen are supporting the Fund with contributions. Some are regular donors, others make a one-off donation. For EUR 35 we can cover the living costs and study costs for a student for one day. Would you like to help us?
Valuable contribution
Many former students that received a scholarship of the
Eric
Bleumink Fund have become a
teacher
or researcher in their home country. They share
the knowledge
and
experiences they
have gained
in Groningen with a new
generation of
talented
students
.
Others work
in
an
international
organization or
in business and
thus
provide
a valuable contribution to
their society
.
Support from alumni, students and staffThe annual campaign among alumni gets a lot of response. Also students and staff of our university support the EBF more and more with special campaigns.
The Fund was set up in May 2000, on the occasion of the retirement of Prof. Eric Bleumink as chairman of the Board of the University of Groningen. As chairman, he was always a major supporter of cooperation with universities in the developing world.
