Dual Career Support

Find out what we can do for your partner

At Dual Career Support (DCS), we aim to support and advise the partners of new academic and other staff at the University of Groningen. Find out below what we can do for you and your partner:

Career support
  • Personal intake interview and follow-up sessions with one of our experienced job coaches.
  • A free check of your CV and motivation letter, and on-demand practising for job interviews.
  • Information package on how to apply for a job in the Dutch labour market after the intake.
  • Free registration for workshops and job application training courses offered by Queenfishers and Make it in the North (MiitN).
  • Option for DCS partners to apply internally for UG job vacancies.
Social activities
  • Support in building a social network in cooperation with the International Welcome Centre North (IWCN).
  • Opportunities to meet other DCS partners during cultural and social events.
  • Low-threshold opportunity to learn Dutch through IWCN.
Benefits for DCS members
  • Various benefits during the first year, such as discounts at the UG SPR sports organisation.
  • Participation in courses offered in the context of the University’s Balance health programme.
  • A free session with vitality coach Linda van den Bovenkamp.
  • Reduced fees for language courses offered by the Language Centre.
  • Free membership of the Forum library.
  • Membership of the LinkedIn group for DCS partners that offers weekly job postings and updates on work-related and social activities.
External partners

Partnership with International Welcome Center North and Make it in the North for extensive support and networking opportunities.

Apply here if you are the partner of a newly hired UG staff member who relocated to Groningen no more than two years ago.

What you can expect once you register
  • A welcome letter with more information about our services.
  • Regular newsletters with useful information for internationals.
  • Personal intake interview and follow-up sessions with a DCS job coach.
  • Invitations to free training courses and career workshops.
  • Option for a DCS partner to apply internally for UG vacancies.
After two years

Membership ends after two years, but exceptions can be made in specific situations. Do not hesitate to contact DCS for more information.
