Linnaeusborg

The University of Groningen has built what to all intents and purposes is a completely new Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The 'Biologisch Centrum', previously located in the village of Haren, moved to this eastern part of the Zernike Complex at the end of 2010. The current teaching buildings and chemistry laboratories will make way for new ones .
Insulation
The design includes well-insulated plaster walls with a vapour-resistant effect. The windows are relatively small and well insulated. The outside of the building, which has a timber-frame construction, is covered by aluminium plates over steel wool and fibreglass. The roof is covered with grass and sedum .
